WILL THE THIRD TEMPLE BE BUILT NEXT YEAR?
(Israel Today News)

According to a centuries-old rabbinical prophecy that appears to be coming true, on March 16, 2010, Israel will begin construction of the Third Temple in Jerusalem.

During the 18th century, the Vilna Gaon, a respected rabbinical authority, prophesied that the Hurva Synagoge in Jerusalem, which was built during his day, would be destroyed and rebuilt twice, and that when the Hurva was completed for the third time, construction on the Third Temple would begin.

The Hurva Synagogue was first destroyed shortly after its initial construction when Muslims demanding the return of loans tore it down. The synagogue was rebuilt a hundred years later and became the most important Jewish house of worship in the Holy Land, only to be blown to pieces by Jordanian troops during Israel’s 1948 War of Independence.

In 2001, Israel finally decided to rebuild the landmark, which today stands in the center of the Jewish Quarter in Jerusalem’s Old City. The building is scheduled to be completed and the Hurva Synagogue dedicated for the third time on March 15 of next year.

WHAT DID THE ISRAELI CABINET MEETING ACCOMPLISH?

WHAT DID ISRAEL’S CABINET MEETING ACCOMPLISH?
(reported by One Jerusalem)

Following a Cabinet meeting in which Minister Uzi Landau voted against any sort of moratorium on construction in settlements there is some confusion as to what Israel’s security cabinet agreed to do. At a news conference today, Prime Minister Netanyahu said that Israel will halt construction in the West Bank but not Jerusalem. Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Benny Begin who supported Netanyahu in the meeting seems to have agreed to a different policy. Begin told the press:

“During these 10 months thousands of housing units and public buildings will be built in the West Bank to allow (settlers) to lead normal lives, and once the 10 months are over the government of Israel, just as it has declared, will resume construction in the West Bank in accordance with the policy of past Israeli regimes.”

Begin’s words seem to contradict the message delivered by Netanyahu. Netanyahu told the press that his government will “constrict” construction but would not halt construction of public buildings (such as synagogues and kindergartens.) And Netanyahu’s message has led settlers and members of the Knesset to call for Netanyahu’s resignation. One nationalist leader, Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Gershon Mesika, accused Netanyahu of deceiving Israeli voters and said he must resign. “I am ashamed and embarrassed that the Likud chairman is working exactly the opposite of the platform on which his name was chosen and is strangling settlement in a way even the most extreme left governments did not do,” Mesika said.

One can clearly debate what the Cabinet agreed to do, but there is no debate that to the world Israel has taken a big step in a new direction. Israel has made some concession in hopes of jump-starting negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. This move has undercut the often repeated position that Israel will not accept pre-conditions before negotiations, that the settlements are somehow not legitimately part of Israel, and that Israel will only make concessions if the other side does so first.

Israel appears vulnerable to pressure from the United States. That impression bodes very badly for Israel’s future. In the White House, Israel’s critics know that if you push hard enough you can get Israel to change its course. Do not be surprised if this leads to Obama and the Europeans increasing the pressure on the settlements and Jerusalem.

If Israel’s leaders thought that this action would get the world to lighten up on Israel they are wrong. All the talk about how the settlements should not be an issue, that there is no one on the other side to negotiate with have been undermined. Israel has boxed itself into the paradigm created by a hostile White House and a hostile Europe.

Along with boxing itself in by agreeing to make the settlements a bargaining chip, one has to wonder what did the Cabinet hope to achieve. Today, Abbas continues to be a political non-entity, Obama continues to pursue a Muslim oriented Middle East policy, and Israel is seen as malleable target.

As we said earlier, be prepared for Israel’s enemies to re-energize their efforts for more concessions — with focus being on Jerusalem.

THERE NEVER WAS A PALESTINIAN NATION!

AZMI BISHARA: THERE IS NO “PALESTINIAN” NATION. NEVER WAS!
by Avi Yelli

(IsraelNN.com) The Zionist Freedom Alliance of California has been circulating a video on the internet this past week exposing former Member of Knesset Azmi Bishara denying the existence of a “Palestinian” nation. The video was recorded years prior to Bishara entering Israel’s parliament in 1996 as head of the Arab Balad party.

Bishara, who resigned from the Knesset and fled the country in 2007 just when Israeli Security Services were ready to arrest him on charges of treason and espionage, is shown in the video reiterating his Arab nationalist position that there is no such thing as a “Palestinian” people.

Yehuda Katz, who leads ZFA in the largely anti-Israel Bay Area of northern California, told Israel National News that people should really investigate the basic claims of the Middle East conflict before expressing strong opinions. “History did not start in 1967. We, the modern day Hebrews, have almost a 4,000 year old history and an uninterrupted presence in our homeland for over 3,300 years. The Palestinian nation was invented in the 1960s by Yassir Arafat and Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceau?escu in an attempt to erase our history and steal our land. These facts cannot be ignored any longer. ‘Palestine’ was initially a foreign colonialist concept invented by the Romans who massacred, exiled and enslaved the Jewish people. It is not an authentic Arab identity.”

NEW IRANIAN PROTESTS PLANNED!

NEW IRANIAN PROTESTS SLATED FOR DECEMBER 7
by Nissan Ratzlav-Katz

Despite dropping out of major world headlines, the Iranian pro-democracy dissident movement is still active. New anti-regime protests are slated for December 7, Iran’s official Student Day. In a preemptive crackdown, the Islamic Republic has been arresting students across the country.

According to figures from the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran (ICHRI), dozens of Iranian university students have been arbitrarily arrested and prosecuted this month. Students have been detained by police throughout Iran, including at four separate academic institutions in the capital Tehran. In many cases, the authorities are not releasing any information about those individuals taken into custody.

Some of the students have already been sentenced to prison terms or lashings. Other students have been expelled from their universities or subjected to university disciplinary procedures due to their alleged anti-regime activities.

“In order to silence the student movement, a wholesale crackdown on Iranian students is underway, which not only violates their rights, but also disrupts their studies and the lives of their families,” said Hadi Ghaemi, a spokesperson for the ICHRI.

Iranian citizens initially took to the streets in mass numbers in the aftermath of Iran’s tenth presidential election, held June 12, when President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was re-elected in what opponents say was a planned fraud. Iranian authorities deployed police and elite Basij militia forces, as well as imported Hizbullah and Hamas units, to violently put down the protests, which had taken on a broadly anti-regime tone. According to pro-democracy sources, hundreds of people were killed by Iranian government forces, with thousands of others injured. Smaller anti-Islamic Republic protests and activities have continued sporadically and in different forms for the past five months, despite the arrests and trials of many dissidents.

According to the United Persian Organization (UPO), an organization promoting regime change in Iran, the “people of Iran are beyond disputed election results. They demand an Iran without theocracy, without the Islamic Republic.” The UPO, which is promoting mass participation in the December protests, says that “Iranians from all walks of life will join students in demonstrations all across Iran to demand freedom, democracy and secularism, and an end to the current regime.”

The UPO and Iranian pro-democracy movement activists inside and outside Iran are calling on people around the world to hold rallies in support of the Iranian dissidents on December 7. “Americans, Europeans, Asians and Africans – we all have to stand behind the Iranian people. It is our duty as human beings,” UPO declared. In particular, university students have been called upon to hold rallies on their campuses worldwide.

ISRAEL FREEZES SETTLEMENTS!

ISRAEL OFFICALLY FREEZES SETTLEMENTS – PALESTINIANS STILL DON’T WANT PEACE TALKS!

Israel’s cabinet on Wednesday voted in favor of a proposal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to officially freeze all new construction in Jewish settlements in Judea and Samaria for a period of 10 months to give peace talks with the Palestinians another chance.

Speaking to the nation following the vote, Netanyahu insisted that “now is time to move forward toward peace. There is no more time to waste. Israel has taken a far-reaching step toward peace, it is time for the Palestinians to do the same.”

The decision did not include the eastern half of Jerusalem, where the Palestinians and the international community also accuse Israel of settlement activity, and will also not halt construction on 3,000 Jewish housing units already being built in the so-called “West Bank.”

The cabinet vote was really just an official public announcement of a policy Netanyahu has been implementing since he took office in March. Since then, Israel has not authorized construction of any new housing developments in Judea and Samaria, and has only allowed select projects to go forward in Jerusalem.

Nevertheless, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lauded the announcement of an official settlement freeze, and said it would certainly “help move forward” the stalled peace process. US Middle East envoy George Mitchell described the decision as “significant” and said it would have a “substantial impact on the ground.”

But the Palestinians took a much different view. Emboldened by US President Barack Obama’s recent strong criticism of Jewish building projects in Jerusalem, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas said Israel’s decision meant nothing, since the new red line for restarting talks was now a halt to Jewish construction in parts of the holy city claimed by the Palestinians.

“Jerusalem is the red line for the Palestinians and Arabs,” Abbas said in a statement released though his spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudaineh. “Any return to negotiations must be on the basis of a complete settlement freeze, and in Jerusalem foremost.”

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman fired back on Thursday, noting that Israel did not actually care what Abbas thought of its decision, which was primarily made to show the US and the international community that Israel is willing to make compromises for peace, while it is the Palestinians who refuse to move forward.

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon told reporters that the decision would be “sufficient to demonstrate whether the Palestinians are serious about peace or just serial excuse givers.”

ATTEMPT TO SMUGGLE WEAPONS TO IRAN AND SYRIA – FROM THE USA!

ARAB-LINKED US RING TRIED TO SMUGGLE WEAPONS TO ISRAEL’S ENEMIES!
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

American authorities have busted a ring of six men, most of whom have Arab and Muslim names, for allegedly trying to smuggle anti-aircraft missiles and machine guns to Iran or Syria for use by the terror “resistance.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested and charged Hassan Mohammad Komeiha, originally from Lebanon, and Dani Nemr Tarraf, after Tarraf arrived in Philadelphia to examine weapons he planned to ship to Israel’s enemies. Three other members of the ring are still at-large, two of them overseas.

The smuggling ring developed from Komeiha’s original link with an undercover FBI agent who sold him laptop computers, cell phones and PlayStation game consoles which Komeiha believed were stolen.

During the two-year investigation, the defendants raised the ante from computer games to night vision camera lenses and then to missiles and rifles. Tarraf specifically asked the undercover agent if he could supply him with guided missiles that could “take down an F-16.”

The US-made F-16 fighter jet is a central component of several advanced air forces, including those of Israel and the USA.

Tarraf, Komehai’s boss and who was identified as having residences in Lebanon and Slovokia, was charged with conspiracy to buy and ship anti-aircraft missiles and machine guns. Tarraf’s associate was his brother Douri Nemr Tarraf, both of whom wired tens of thousands of dollars to the undercover agent for the goods they bought.

Authorities refused to state whether any of the defendants were connected with a terrorist organization, but both Iran and Syria are described by the United States as countries that support terror.

FORMER US AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL SPEAKS OUT ABOUT THE FAILURE OF PRESENT US ADMINISTRATION

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

Former US Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk on Tuesday said that President Barack Obama and his chief Middle East envoy, George Mitchell, have failed to grasp the realities of how peace is made in the region, and so have only exacerbated the conflict between Israel and the Arabs.

Indyk supported Obama for president, and originally believed he would do a much better job than past presidents at hammering out a lasting peace deal between Israel and its neighbors.

But at a political forum in Omaha, Nebraska, Indyk conceded that he had been wrong, and that Obama was flunking his foray into Middle East peacemaking.

Obama’s first mistake, said Indyk, was putting so much stock in Saudi King Abdullah supporting his peace push by moderating the Arab-backed Saudi peace proposal, which offers Israel full diplomatic relations with its neighbors in return for surrendering all lands liberated in the 1967 Six Day War and opening its borders to millions of so-called “Palestinian refugees.”

Obama believed that if he could just get the Arabs to drop their demand to flood what remained of the Jewish state with even more Arabs, then Israel could be compelled to accept the rest of the terms. But Abdullah was unwilling to budge.

Then, lamented Indyk, Obama made his second blunder by focusing nearly his entire peace policy on strong-arming Israel into halting all Jewish construction in Judea, Samaria and even much of Jerusalem.

Indyk insisted that in order to effectively broker peace in the Middle East, one must not get bogged down in details before a broad agreement has been reached. Indeed, the Palestinians have played off Obama’s error by adopting a far more extreme set of demands regarding Jewish building – demands that no Israeli leader can now accept.

ROCKET ATTACKS ON NEGEV WHILE GOV’T NEARS DEAL FOR SHALIT!
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

Terrorists from Gaza, where Hamas vowed three days ago there would be a total halt to rocket attacks, struck the Western Negev while the government continues to near a deal to free hundreds of terrorists for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit.

No one was wounded, and no damage was reported in the missile explosions in the Shaar HaNegev region, where rocket-battered Sderot is located. The Air Force retaliated near dawn Tuesday and hit a weapons warehouse and two tunnels used for smuggling weapons, merchandise and terrorists.

One day after the Hamas announcement of a ceasefire, following more than 275 mortar and rocket attacks since the end of the Operation Cast Lead campaign, the Islamic Jihad immediately denied having agreed to a ceasefire. The Hamas statement was considered a sign that an agreement with Israel is imminent for the release of up to 1,400 terrorists and prisoners, many of who whom are serving life sentences in jail for involvement with lethal attacks, including suicide bombings, on Israelis.

Media pressure and continuing rumors from Arab newspapers forced Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to break his self-imposed silence on negotiations Monday, and he insisted that no deal has been completed.

The Cabinet must vote on any deal, and the Prime Minister is working behind closed doors to make sure that an agreement will not be rejected, as happened to former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert just before he left the government nearly a year ago. Military and security officials convinced ministers that the proposed deal would endanger the security of the country by allowing terrorists to return to violence.

Prime Minister Netanyahu also said the Knesset will discuss any proposal, but he did not indicate he would seek approval from the legislators.

UNITED NATIONS “INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY DAY” WITH THE PALESTINIANS

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Yes, the United Nations has designated November 28, 2009, this coming Saturday, as “International Solidarity Day” with the Palestinians! Their anti-Israel tactices have included the “boycotting” of ALL Israeli products and urging people around the world to do so!

Imagine – the UN has decided to support the terrorists of Fatah and Hamas instead of the only true democratic State in the Middle East – ISRAEL!

We have a suggestion for all of our readers – Why not plan to buy Israeli products on this coming day of November 28 (Saturday) and call it “INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT WITH THE NATION OF ISRAEL” – Amen? AMEN!!!! Let’s plan to eat “kosher” products and celebrate the Sabbath Day (a command from the LORD GOD of Israel to the children of Israel – Exodus 31:12-17) by sending special gifts (like Hanukkah gifts to the Israel Defense Forces, etc.) and special contributions to the needy of Israel and to Jewish people worldwide. Why not call up your local synagogue and tell the Rabbi that you support Israel and wanted him to know what you were going to do!!!

I think my wife and I are going to enjoy a delicious Hebrew National hot dog (kosher), with mustard bought in Israel, and send a gift to our Jewish friends – besides, we will be a bit tired of Turkey by Saturday – it will be a good change!

Remember again – let’s celebrate “INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY AND SUPPORT DAY FOR ISRAEL! – this Saturday, November 28, 2009!!!!

CANADA CHARGED WITH WAR CRIMES!

TURMOIL IN CANADA OVER ALLEGED WAR CRIMES IN AFGHANISTAN
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

A veteran Canadian foreign service officer charged the government with hiding war crimes in the war in Afghanistan. Military and government leaders denied the accusations as unsubstantiated.

If proven, Canada may face charges similar to those leveled against Israel for alleged crimes in fighting terrorists in Gaza, but Judge Richard Goldstone, who authored the United Nations report condemning Israel, has not commented on the latest charges.

Richard Colvin who was the former diplomatic head of the Canadian reconstruction team in Afghanistan, testified in a parliamentary committee that Canadian forces handed over detainees to the Afghan national security agency while knowing that some of them may be innocent but still would face torture for up to several months.

“Colvin was careful not to lay blame with the military police who were charged with transferring prisoners to the Afghan torturers,” wrote International Law Professor Errol Mendes in the Ottawa Citizen. “He asserted that there was an astonishingly loose framework created by the highest military and civilian ranks on the transfer of detainees that created the danger of Canada and Canadian officials becoming complicit in torture.”

Colvin testified that Canadian officials refused to accept his phone calls warning of war crime violations while British and Dutch officials reported transfers of detainees to their legislatures.

Colvin, now head of Canadian intelligence in Washington, revealed that when the Red Cross tried for months to warn Canadian officials about the torture of detainees, no one would even take his phone calls.

“In the same 17 months that Colvin was sending his reports to dozens of officials,… the Canadian government was denying in Parliament and the media that there were any substantial reports of Canadian detainees being tortured,” Prof. Mendes added.

“These allegations, if proven, go beyond the detainee abuse,” he continued. “It goes to what is the most sacred in our constitutional and democratic society in Canada. The rule of law requires that no one is above the law and if there is any actual or potential evidence of wrongdoing or illegality, it must be brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities to either stop it or prevent any future occurrence.”
